Congratulations to Claire Calvin, owner of The Porch Kitchen & Cantina, on expansion plans for a second restaurant, Alma-Mexicana, in January 2018 in the former Bailey Power Plant in the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter. Alma-Mexicana is the first restaurant announced by power plant owner, Wexford Science + Technology, to occupy a space in the unique venue of retail, hospitality and business center. Calvin told the Triad Business Journal that the new location will have a simpler, smaller lunch menu to accommodate downtown workers, and a more “sophisticated” dinner atmosphere featuring shared-plate menu items and cocktails. “We’re taking things we think are iconic to Mexico and kind of modernizing them.” (Triad Business Journal, June 14, 2017)
